Insert clever title about “Vests” here…

Living here in Chicago is great.  But one of the things I very much miss about the South is the ability to walk outside in a limited amount of layers without freezing my ass off.  I mean, I know locals up here will tell you that it’s been a “mild” winter so far, but I’m not feeling the same way about it.  I’m cold, and I can’t go outside with these temps without being dressed like this kid.  So, as I was saying, I miss the weather where I could walk outside with a sweater and a vest layered over it, and be just fine.  While I should be worrying about something more substantial and warm, I keep going back to shopping around for a new vest.  Whether it’s a puffer, quilted or even fleece, I’m a big fan of them.  Below are few of my current favorites…

203.2067-4Billy Reid… on sale!

BW008_1Suitsupply: Looks great over or under a sport coat.

While they won’t keep me warm enough on their own up here, still quite perfect for me!

Long time, no talk… how have y’all been?  Me?  Oh I’ve been quite busy: new job, new city to live in, and most importantly, I got married in late October.  Some of you may have already seen some of the photos I posted to Tumblr, but I thought I’d post a few more here.  Being a Southerner tying the knot in Chicago, I wanted to have a few Southern “elements” in the ceremony and reception.  Magnolia leaves dominated our floral arrangements, my boutonniere was a cotton blossom, and the groom’s cake was a red velvet armadillo cake (Steel Magnolias, anyone?).  And because this is somewhat of a menswear blog, I’ll give a few details of what I wore.  My tuxedo is a made-to-measure midnight navy tux with peak lapels and a one-button stance from Suitsupply.  The shirt, tie, and cufflinks are also from Suitsupply.  The shoes are patent leather lace ups from Cole, Rood and Haan (remember that collection???).  Caroline Fontenot of Back Down South, and her husband, Mark, did an amazing job documenting our special day.  Check out some of the photos below…
