Honestly, is there anyone out there that plays the affordable style game better than The Knottery? For the past two years, they’ve brought us all the fun we could ever want around our necks, stuffed in our pockets, holding up our pants, covering our heads… well, you get the idea. They know what they’re doing. For this spring and summer, Jay and Jack are continuing their efforts to make awesome accessories made here in the US. I’m a big fan of the belts and caps this year. So temperatures are going to go up soon, right? I mean, this cold streak we call “winter” has gone on quite long enough, if you ask me. The longing for warmer weather has me poking around webstores for options that I’d like to add to my spring shoe lineup. One can get his unstructured sport coat and slim linen trouser game on point; but if you’re still walking around in beat up boat shoes, someone might accuse you of being “sooooo 2009.” So, if you’re looking to add some “2013″ to your spring shoe collection, feel free to go for any of these. Billy Reid Made to Measure Video

Over the past six months, I’ve really taken an interest in Made to Measure suiting. As someone who works in the menswear retail industry, it has afforded me the opportunity to learn all aspects of the process, such as taking the measurements, seeing the translation between a customer’s body shape and the adjustments that are necessary to be made, and even the numerous suiting models from vendor to vendor. Understanding what goes in to making a well fitting suit is inspiring. Billy Reid has posted quite an inspirational video coinciding with his Made to Measure Events this spring. This. I need it. Like, for realz y’all. I’m a big Luigi Bianchi Mantova/Lubiam/L.B.M. 1911 fan; so after seeing this, you can bet I’ll be scouring Yoox months from now hoping this thing shows up (because cheaper, amirite?). This Field Jacket will certainly keep you dry this spring as it is made with waterproof Loro Piana storm system fabric. Just top notch… So perfect.

NYFW: Billy Reid Fall 2013

So New York Fashion Week is coming to an end (FINALLY!!!! Amirite?!?!). But with the week closing out, I hope you don’t think I was just going to skip an opportunity to write about the most recent collection from my favorite designer, Billy Reid. While a snowstorm was brewing outside , our favorite Louisianian livin’ in Alabama showed that we Southerners sure can fake the ability to make it through cold weather with some of the most beautiful pieces of outerwear and the coziest of cozy sweaters featured the whole week. As expected, Fall 2013 for Billy was full of all shades of earth tones. But the unexpected inclusion of more dark colors, from charcoal to all black, was really nice. Also, check out the roped shoulders on the suiting… fantastic! My absolute favorite piece was the black (what looks to be double-breasted) overcoat with big patch pockets. Pour yourself a bourbon, and check out the perfection of Billy Reid Fall 2013. These are my favorites:

NYFW: Todd Snyder Fall 2013

So it’s New York Fashion Week. That means we are afforded the opportunity to see a ton of great street style shots (as well as some weird ones like old ladies in weird hats flashing gang signs????). But even more importantly, we are afforded the opportunity to see some amazing collections. My favorite so far, which I know I’m not alone here, is Todd Snyder’s Fall 2013 Collection. After being named one of GQ’s Best New Designers last year, Snyder definitely showed why that was good pick with this line. Think tailored pieces made more aggressive with motorcycle riding “badass-ery.” The leather jackets were amazing, as well as the suiting (made by Southwick). My personal favorites were all the heavy duty outerwear. It just couldn’t be beat. Check out my favorite looks below. All of it was perfection.

Field & Crew Watch Post Pulled

So some of you may have seen a post from the other day about the Field & Crew Watch Kickstarter project, and now you may have noticed it is no longer here. While I did not realize it at the time of the original post, it appears there may have been a little “ripping off” going on. Thanks to Joe from Dappered.com, we can clearly see that the Field & Crew photo is just a Photoshopped version of a picture of the Button-Stud Watch Strap offered by our good friend Shawn from Form·Function·Form. All one needs to do is scroll down to the bottom of Shawn’s site and see that all product designs and photography has been copyrighted. So until it’s proven untrue, I don’t want to promote a project that takes part in copyright infringement. Apologies to Shawn and to you, the readers, as well. Head over to fff and buy the real thing; they’re perfect.

One glance at Tumblr over the past year and a half (give or take a day or two), and it would be hard to miss seeing stylish guys wearing running shoes with traditional, tailored menswear or a pair of Jordans with ~~overpriced~~ slim-fitting sweatpants. As someone who was never a huge basketball fan, I was never really one to save that hard earned allowance and blow it all on a pair of Jordans or Air Penny’s (although, I really wanted those Shawn Kemp Reeboks when I was like 9 playing youth basketball). But I have always loved a good pair of running shoes, and I’ve always been pretty brand loyal towards Nike. So I’m still always interested when there’s a new release of super hard-to-find, limited edition, AKA “these will sell out before you even have a shot at remembering what day they were supposed to be released,” shoes. But since those shoes are often so hard to get a hold of, I’m glad that Nike does a great job of keeping really good options decently stocked that will still stand out. Before babbling on for too long about “the Nike’s I really like,” just check them out below… As you can see, I’m a pretty big NRG fan:
